JUNE 26TH RAINED OUT EVENT SCHEDULED FOR THIS SATURDAY
By: Kari Shear-Carlson
(Monday, August 23, 2010) The ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour drivers will head back to Elko Speedway this Saturday, August 28th for the rescheduled Thunderstruck 40-lap feature that was rained out on June 26th. Although qualifying and heat races did take place on June 26th, this weekend’s event will be a complete do-over starting with qualifying.
Twenty-seven Sportsman cars attended the original event. Brent Kane had topped the field in qualifying and captured the first heat race victory, while local driver, Conrad Jorgenson was victorious in the second heat race. Just as the feature was about to get under way, rain moved into the area and washed out the remainder of the night’s events.
Twenty-eight plus Sportsman drivers are expected to return for this Saturday night’s event with only twenty-two cars making it into the feature. Will Brent Kane be able to back up his original quick qualifying time and will Chris Marek increase his current two-point lead over Jay Kalbus with only three events left in the season? You can only find out by heading out to Elko Speedway this Saturday night.
Drivers can refer to the June 26th entry form for race event information. The next event for the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour is Saturday, September 11th at Dells Raceway Park with the final event of the season at Elko Speedway for the Thunder Car Nationals on October 2nd.
The next event for American Speed Association® Kwik Trip Midwest Tour presented by ECHO Outdoor Power Equipment and grandstay.net is Sunday, September 5th at Norway Speedway in Norway, MI.
