Attention Sportsman Teams

Tim Olson and Myself would like to inform all of you that effective today, the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour has been put on hold indefinitely. After numerous efforts to make a few drastic changes and updates to the current business plan, rules, and scheduling, we feel that it is justifiably impossible to keep the series operating under the current plan. Over the last few months we have worked very hard to do everything we could to keep the series strong and to work on a schedule that could provide teams with less travel, lower costs, and the ability to continue supporting their local tracks.

We presented a purse to the tracks that was much lower and affordable for them to have a successful event and limited travel requirements. It would be vital that all of the tracks we approach, buy in to the program in order to have a successful year in 2012. A few of the tracks did not show interest in participating and that left only a couple additional tracks to participate. The main concern between the tracks was a variety of things. (Competing Dates and Competitors, Tire Differences, Minor Rules, and Local Driver Expense)

We have been very proud of the creation of the ASA Midwest Sportsman Tour and many individuals were responsible for keeping the series together. We would like to express our deep appreciation to those few teams that followed the series honorably in 2010 and 2011. You were dedicated to the series and its future and you spent countless hours on the road traveling with the tour to keep it successful and for that, we applaud you.

It was apparent that a series like this is a favorite to fans across the Midwest. Some of the best racing events of the year were always in the Sportsman Division and the fans enjoyed what they saw in the Tour. We would also like to thank all of the contingency companies that provided a "record" amount of prizes to our competitors and to Sunoco for being the title sponsor of the division.

We will always continue to monitor this division and the possibility of rebuilding the series in the future. We apologize to all of those that had shown interest in running the series in the future and we certainly hope you can continue to support your local venue. We'll keep everyone updated in the future and we hope all of you will still visit the ASA Midwest Tour and the ASA Midwest Truck Tour when you can.

Sincerely,

Tim Olson and Steve Einhaus
